Tennis
For the very latest information on the LCC Tennis program, check our Facebook Page
The LCC tennis courts are in a beautiful setting, nestled next to the golf course and overlooking the driving range and scenic pond. Three courts are available for use and have lights to allow play once the sun goes down. The courts are close to the Clubhouse, so you will never go thirsty or hungry. Members look forward to lots of tennis activity on the court each summer. We love to encourage families to get out and play together. "Those who play together, stay together."
Also, check out the schedule for the popular "Beers and Backhands" opportunity. If you enjoy music, food, beer, and social tennis competition, this is the tennis party for you!
The Club has family tennis outings with music, food and fun. One of the popular activities is Cardio Tennis. Accompanied by music, cardio tennis participants get their heart rate up by hitting lots of balls, experiencing live ball drills, and enjoying games based on learning new tactical skills. The tradition continues, typically Wednesday nights, but consult the club calendar or the pro (below) for up-to-date schedules.
Our club has lots of activities for our juniors. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) developed a new pathway for juniors (18 and under) called, “The Net Generation." LCC will be using the curricula, which include red, orange and green dot balls with skill development that is age appropriate. In July there is a full week of camp on the schedule, and there are many scheduled clinics throughout the summer. Don’t miss it!
Going forward, LCC will encourage new players to cultivate their skills and join advanced players to field a Women’s and Men’s Interclub League to compete against neighboring country clubs. LCC women competed in 2016 and were very successful, finishing third in the league. They had a good time doing it!
Also, check the schedule for intermediate mixed clinics.
Pop Tennis
During 2017, LCC introduced a new game called Pop Tennis. This game is a fun form of tennis that can be played by all levels and ages. The racquets are made with material, not strings, so they make a popping noise when you strike the ball. The court space is smaller, there is less movement, and the balls have less compression, so they move slower. Yet, this is a fast, exciting, and fun game for all to play!
The USTA knows this form of tennis is ideal for those who might otherwise leave the game due to injuries. It is easier on the joints and technically easier to play then traditional tennis. Pop Tennis is on the schedule! You may also call the pro to make additional times to get out and play this fun family sport. Racquets and balls included. Pop Tennis on the web.
Pickle Ball
On the same lines as Pop Tennis …actually, we do use the same lines…..one court set for our pickle ball players. Pickle Ball uses a wiffle tennis ball, hard rackets, and is one of the fastest growing recreational sports today. Like Pop Tennis, you play on a smaller court so you don’t have to cover as much court space. It’s fun and easy to learn as evidenced by the great demand for pickle ball courts everywhere!
See you on the courts!
